Marissa Valera has taught and performed Hip Hop extensively in the Santa Cruz and San Francisco Bay Area. She is currently teaching Kids and Teen/Adult Hip Hop at Motion Pacific, and Kids Hip Hop at Ballet Arts in Scotts Valley, and Mintie White School in Watsonville.

Some of Ms. Valera’s performance experiences are the Micaya Hip Hop Dance Festival 2000, 2001, and 2002 in San Francisco, Cabrillo Music Festival 2000, 2001, and 2002, opening act for activist professor Angela Davis and Modern dancer Robert Henry Johnson, Motion Pacific Anniversary Shows at Cabrillo College Theatre, and UCSC Slug Fests. She has also performed in local community events such as Aids Walk, Take Back the Neighborhood Night, Monte Foundation Fireworks Shows, Red Ribbon Day with the Scotts Valley Police Department, and Make a Difference Day at the Capitola Mall.

In addition to her performance activities, Ms. Valera was also the Co-Director of local Hip Hop and Breakdancing Troupe “Toy Soldiers”. She has judged Breakdancing Competitions in San Francisco, choreographed for Catillions, and taught and choreographed for Summer Dance Camps both at Motion Pacific and at schools throughout the county.

Many of Ms. Valera’s teachers are world-renowned pioneers of Hip Hop. They include Poppin’Pete, Brian Green, Skeeter Rabbit, and members of Style Elements.

Ms. Valera welcomes people from all walks of life into her classes to have a great time and discover some of the roots of Hip Hop Dance.
